There are two main types of doulas. A Labor/Birth doula helps a couple before, during and immediately after their birth. The nature of the doula services provided will vary depending upon the background and training of the doula. Doula do not perform medical procedures and focus on non-medical comfort measures to assist you in your labor.

A postpartum doula is a supportive person who nurtures, guides and educates the new mother after the birth of her baby. Postpartum doulas typically perform light housekeeping, meal preparation, assistance with older siblings, and help with newborn care and breastfeeding.
